Nahla Hetta calls. Can I meet her in Amr Helmy’s office now?

I walk up to the Ministry of Health. He says there’s been a decision that the Midan must be opened; the sit-in has to end.

Nahla and I tell him the shabab want to suspend but they won’t abandon the shuhada’s families. The families are exhausted but they say they’re still being pressured and threatened to make them change their testimonies and drop their cases.

He says he’s allocated Agouza Hospital to receive the injured and he will put a wing there at the disposal of the families; if they suspend the sit-in they can stay there. We say they really need to see some officers taken off the streets. We have their names.

He says this is serious: SCAF is determined to clear the Midan.

He also says he’s looking for a young, revolutionary doctor to be in charge of the injured and the families at Agouza. I put him in touch with Hoda Yousri, a young doctor I’d met in Tahrir the night Mubarak didn’t leave.
